Refurbishment

Consider all the options before you replace your waste equipment.

At Equipserv UK we think it’s important that the word ‘refurbishment’ means exactly that. Our 4 levels of equipment refurbishment services ensure that we resolve the fundamental issues of a machine.

Every aspect of the machine is fully assessed, and to do this every item MUST be removed from the mainframe for full inspection, to either be repaired or replaced.

The areas of refurbishment are broken down into 4 areas:

Mainframe

The steel frame structure of the machine, compaction blade, hopper & covers

Hydraulic

This includes the main power pack, ram cylinders and hydraulic hoses

Electrical

All wiring, limit switches, sensors, magnet switches, main panel & remote stations

Mechanical Movement

Wear pads, blocks, strips, ram pins and bushes

Why refurbishment?

Every machine has a life expectancy, which typically depends on the following factors:

  1. How frequently the machine is in use
  2. The operating environment of the machine
  3. The type and volume of waste products processed by the machine
  4. Maintenance and housekeeping service schedules

For instance:

A machine experiencing high usage and processing food waste products will significantly impact the lifespan of its hydraulics, mechanical components, and mainframe. Given this, you can anticipate replacing the machine every 5 years. However, with regular servicing and proper housekeeping, you might extend its lifespan to 10 years.

If you cannot alter the operating conditions of the machine, replacing it may seem like the best option. However, in reality, refurbishing the existing machine through Equipserv could potentially yield the same lifespan as a new machine.

Why Equipserv UK?

We provide three distinct refurbishment levels, and each option entails:

  1. Complete disassembly, including the removal of all components, wires, hoses, covers, nuts, and bolts, down to the bare mainframe steel shell of the machine.
  2. This comprehensive disassembly ensures that every part of the steel mainframe undergoes shot blasting and repainting. Because everything is removed, there is no need for masking, ensuring complete paint coverage for the entire mainframe.
  3. Through the removal and inspection of every component, we conduct a thorough assessment of their condition, providing assurance of reliability when the machine is back in operation.

Refurbishment options

Basic Refurbishment

This option aims to minimise costs by reusing existing components wherever possible. We remove all items and components, assess them, and repair or replace them as needed.

Please note: If, during inspection and testing, we discover items that require immediate attention but were not initially quoted for, we will provide a separate quote for those items.

We offer a 3-month warranty for areas associated with the refurbishment.

This warranty does not cover items that were not replaced during the refurbishment but were found to be in good condition at the time of the work, nor does it cover damage or operator errors.

Standard Refurbishment

The standard refurbishment includes all the elements mentioned above, with the addition of replacing ‘high usage’ parts with new ones.

For example, this may involve installing new hydraulic pumps and filters, new hydraulic hoses, new limit switches, new push buttons on control stations, new motor contactor relays and overloads, and new nylon wear pads/strips.

We provide a 6-month warranty for areas associated with the refurbishment and the replaced parts.

This warranty does not cover items that were not replaced during the refurbishment but were found to be in good condition at the time of the work, nor does it cover damage or operator errors.

Full Refurbishment

This option essentially transforms the machine into one that’s as good as new. The only components retained are the steel mainframe, compaction blade, hoppers, and covers. We will repair these components as needed before being shot blasted and painted.

The hydraulic rams undergo a comprehensive overhaul and come with a test certificate.

All other components listed below are replaced with new ones according to the original manufacturer’s specifications:

  • Main control panel
  • Remote stations
  • All internal/external wiring
  • All limit switches, sensors, magnet switches, safety interlocks
  • Main hydraulic power pack, tank, pump, and motor
  • Hydraulic hoses
  • All mechanical movement items: wear pads, strips, pins, and bushes

We offer a 12-month warranty for areas associated with the refurbishment and the replaced parts.

This warranty does not cover damage or operator errors.
